Mike Myers: Former MLB pitcher several teams, 2004 World Series Red Sox

1. Could you tell us your story on dropping down?

I got the idea from AL Kaline. I started to drop down in 6th game in the big leagues. It was a natural thing to do.

2. What are some of the advantages you had from your arm angle?

Hitters have to change eye levels when I came in the game and rarely, if ever, did I have to face the same hitter twice in a game so the advantage was mine.

3. If you didn't drop down, do you think you would have had the same success?

Yes, I never said I couldn't have done it the other way.

4. What would you tell someone debating on changing their arm angle?

Only do it if you are 100% all-in on trying to do this.

5. Are there any mechanical tips that you'd give to someone throwing sidearm/submarine?

Don't go so low with arm that you are going to off balance. DO what is comfortable and does not seem like a lot of work.

6. What pitches did you throw?

Fastball and slider

7. How did you pitch to lefties/righties?

Same, throwing strikes and throwing to their weaknesses and tendencies.

8. Lastly what was your favorite part about pitching from down there?

Favorite part of pitching from the side was that there was not a lot of others doing it when I played so I was unique.
