Danny Young: Former Cubs LHP

1. Could you tell us your story on dropping down?

It was experimental at the time during the 1991 spring training

2. What are some of the advantages you had from your arm angle?

lefthanded hitters were scared to death, because I had control problems.

3. If you didn't drop down, do you think you would have had the same success?

I didn't do it all the time, but after I started throwing over handed again I would drop down to strike lefties out. Not really.

4. What would you tell someone debating on changing their arm angle?

I wouldn't be against it,they may have success and like doing it.

5. Are there any mechanical tips that you'd give to someone throwing sidearm/submarine?

No matter how you are pitching, you must be in line with your target-glove when you finish.

 6. What pitches did you throw?

Four seam, two seam,slider.fastballs-94-91.slider-85-79.

7. How did you pitch to lefties/righties?

There are a lot of things, charts, hitters got themselves out, one thing with lefties. It was getting ahead back door slider faster slider and fast balls away!

8. Lastly what was your favorite part about pitching from down there?

It was fun and then when I started pitching overhand again, I would drop down as my out pitch.!!
