Jack Spradlin: Former AAA LHP Nationals

1. Could you tell us your story on dropping down?

I would only throw side arm to lefties and it wasn't every pitch.

2. What are some of the advantages you had from your arm angle?

I did it to mix in a different angle and my slider from down there would sweep a little more then from over the top but I threw both at them.

3. If you didn't drop down, do you think you would have had the same success?

N/A

4. What would you tell someone debating on changing their arm angle?

I would say throw from whatever angle gives you the most movement and if you drop down that doesn't mean you can't still come from the top every now and then and vise versa.

5. Are there any mechanical tips that you'd give to someone throwing sidearm/submarine?

If you drop down do not forget to hide the ball during your delivery.

6. What pitches did you throw?

I threw fastball and slider from down under.

7. How did you pitch to lefties/righties?

I always tried to make X's when I pitched to righties and lefties and change speeds always tried to keep hitters off balance.

8. Lastly what was your favorite part about pitching from down there?

I liked dropping down to lefties because it appeared that you could get further inside on them during your delivery.
